Seine cloth is an extremely early fabric dating back prior to 1500 and originating in the Mediterranean.  Early pieces would have been hand knotted.  The woven version began in the later 1800s with the use of the leno. This particular netting was used primarily as a
tool for fishing and gathering, though peasant folk found many uses for it.  Netting was used in a variety of ways such from a protective material to gathering to filtering.  Seine cloth drapes beautifully.  This curtain can be drawn up on either side 1, 2 or 3 times.  There are 3 tabs that run along the top and 3 tabs that run along each side.  You can also choose to hang as a panel. It makes a beautiful and primitive light filter either way.
